Step-by-step: Joker Comic

Description

Just to show you the process of my Joker comic, the traditional pages.

First (the notebook): The story, the character's lines and a rough sketch of how the page will look. Most of the time I'll end up with something else than what I planned in the first place.

Then I draw the outlines of the picture I'm about to draw. Then I'll make a sketch of whatever is supposed to be in it, like the Joker :D I often try to find a good reference for this part so I'll be sure the picture will resemble the actual person. (as long as it's not Bruce, it works fine :P )

Then I add ink and after that I'll remove the graphite. I know that many artist that makes comics often use a lightbox to get their final lineart on a new paper, but since I don't have any it is easier to just do it this way, and I'll need less paper as well :)

Watercolours next! Trying to bring more life and depth to the characters. And to give it the right mood/lightning...

The last parts are made in the computer, in photoshop. Since I have no scanner at the moment I'll photograph the page... probably not the best way to do it, but anyway....

Now I'll add the text. I also adjust the colours a little, add the black frame and make sure the size is right. Sometimes I add some highlights, a glint in the eye or something....

That's it! Not very complicated and maybe not that informative/helpful... but hopefully interesting/enjoyable :D
